Tim & Willy Guest Host on KTAR-FM January 2nd

Valley radio icons Tim & Willy dropped a bombshell on radio listeners today as they announced their departure from legendary country radio station KNIX.

Thousands of Tim & Willy fans are wondering what the crap happened.

Today on KTAR-FM Tim & Willy appeared on a one hour news special with Pat McMahon. They shared more about why they left KNIX and the uncertainty of their future.

The duo said they have no deal ready to go with another country station or any other radio station for that matter. They said they could not agree to terms on a new contract with their previous employer and decided to leave even though they weren't sure what the future holds.

We offered Tim & Willy the opportunity to fill in for afternoon talk show host Mac Watson who is going to be taking a few days of vacation the first week of January.

They agreed to come in for two days (and promised to not do too much damage) and so Tim and Willy will guest host from 3-7pm January 2nd and 4th on News/Talk 92.3 KTAR.

We were just antagonized, for the last time, by another in a long list of inappropriate comments from Larry Gatos. We enjoy listening to KTAR, with the exception of Mr. Gatos, but cannot find any satisfactory way to keep his often off-color language and frequebt immoral comments from the ears of our family and especially our grandchildren. The only solution which works for us is to permanently stop listening to KTAR.
We are amazed that The FCC allows KTAR to remain on the air considering his obscene language use.
Maybe some day we can return if he is replaced by a nice person such as Ankarlo, McMahon, or Watson.
Sorry for the severe commentary but that is how he has affected us.

I have been so disappointed in the new line up with the talk jocks. I don't care to listen to someone else's issues and opinions for hours when they don't have any particular expertise to talk to their subjects.
I have a long commute to/from work (usually an hour or more) and have faithfully listened to KTAR, first for the traffic reports, second for the "entertainment." I used to listen for the traffic in the morning, then often switch to KNIX for Tim & Willy. For the afternoon drive I used to stay tuned to KTAR for the entire commute. Now in the afternoon most times I can't rely on getting the traffic "on the 9's" and I don't like the afternoon show (I don't listen so I don't even know which talk jock is on, but I don't like the show). So now I rarely tune the radio to KTAR for the drive home.
I do like Ned and Connie in the morning. Keep them there and put Tim & Willy on the drive home slot. Then I'll get my traffic and some fun entertainment while dealing with the long drive.

I, along with many others, have listened to KTAR for many years. While I was somewhat dismayed at the change in format, I have come to enjoy some of it. I like Ned and Connie in the morning, and I have come to like Ankarlo. I do NOT like Glenn Beck; he really does not fit into the format as he is not "live and local" and he also spends way too much time promoting his tour or his book or his show, and he yells way too much. I think Mac (although he's not my favorite) should be on in Beck's place, and put Tim and Willie on in Mac's current slot. Gaydos is okay, but I don't listen unless he's subbing for someone during the day.

As it is, I listen until Beck comes on, then turn the radio way down until Mac comes on.

p.s. I miss McMahon (grew up with Wallace and Ladmo) and I really miss Paul Harvey.

I'm now moving back to Chicago, n would LOVE it if they went to work for US99.5!!! Well what to day. I miss Liebo alot - I like AnKarlo alot. Gatos worthless. Mack is hit and miss for me. Can be funny but wouldnt miss him. Glenn Beck dont need him at all but not the right time slot for Tim and Willy. First time listener to Tim and Willy was last night. They r very funny and would look forward to a permanent spot for them. I would like to see them in the 4-7 spot. I didnt mind my drive home at all.

I used to listen to KNIX religiously, but then I started listening to talk radio to broaden my mind. I REALLY LOVED Leibowitz and was so upset to see him leave. Ankarlo is ok, but I only listen to him for 30 mins in the a.m. driving to work. I am not a big fan of Glen Beck, even though he makes alot of good points, I do want to hear more local news too. I would love if Tim & Willy filled his time slot in the afternoons! Most of the people on talk radio started as DJ's, and Tim & Willy are intelligent plus very entertaining! And if that country "twang" they have is original, then don't lose it boys where ever you end up!

Come on guys, It's not that I dont't like Tim and Willy, but they are DJ's what will they talk about. You had Kid Stevens, which I liked then he was gone. I like Ankarlo, and Beck, and like Mac but this shake up with format and where are we putting Tim and Willy in the line-up sucks. Hmmm...not so sure about Tim & Willy on a talk station, but I'm open minded about it. That being said...I certainly hope that you use Tim & Willy to replace Glenn Beck. The fact that he is not local really doesn't work with KTAR's format. Plus, every time I turn him on, he is talking about his 'tour'.

Leave Ned & Connie, Ankarlo and Mac Watson alone. They are all great. Get rid of Gaydos and you'll have the perfect station.

I been a faithful listner, by the way,
miss Ted Simmons show and Pat's, thought your move with Darrel Ankarlo was goofy, but
after about a month after he joined, his show grew on me, now I make it a point to listen in every day. I do find myself tuning off the radio with Beck on at noon, rather listen to my mp3's, then turn it back on at 3 for Mac. Mac does go on and on, but I do get a kick out of his show, and what else can I add about Gaydos, he his one of a kind. Hope it works out for the best, for the listeners.

Someones messy fingerprinta are all over this station lately. Meet the Press went away on the Sunday overnight so you can air a weekly informercial on stocks? Jimbo's show is preempted by a couple of 20 something hacks from Utah? Those are NEWS programs that often have guests like current candidates in an upcoming election year. Too fair and balanced for this station? If you guys replace Glenn Beck with a couple of country Djs youre clearly not big boy radio and should just go back to running one good station on am rather than two mediocre ones.

Country western DJ's on a news station? Are you nuts? I sent e-mails when you added the last 2 guys and you told me how great it would be. So much for that- now this??

Why don't you just hire Dennis Miller like Monday Nite Football did. About as bright a move and at least Miller is funny.

We started coming to the Valley, as snow-birds, in 1994, when we bought a home in Chandler. We moved here, permanently, in 1999. We lived over 60 yrs. in MN. WCCO was probably the premier radio station in MN. I compare KTAR to that station. I have listened to KTAR more than any other station since coming down in 1994. I have always enjoyed listening to the local personalities, you have had on, who were so well informed on local happenings. Lately, you have been getting less of my listening time. I think if you were able to work Tim & Willy into your schedule on a daily basis, your station would probably get most of my radio listening time. Bill B.

Way to go KTAR...find someway to work Tim and Willy into the format permanently! They are LOCAL Icons!!! The format needs some balance...there's to much Vitriol with Beck and Mac back to back. As a listener since I moved to the valley 15 years ago, I can't take the "stress" of listening to Ankarlo, then Beck then MAC yelling his head off half the time. I love Ankarlo and agree with most the other posters that Beck is ok in very small doses...but he's not local...and local has always been the best thing about KTAR. Find a place for Tim & Willy either with Ned and Connie in the ams or get rid of Beck.

5:30-9:00 AM: Tim & Willy (with Ned & Connie doing the news). You will instantly have the biggest, best morning show, regardless of format, in the market.

If WABC can start its day with Don Imus, KTAR can and should start its day with Tim & Willy.
